Girls Wrestling Shows Grit In Marshfield

Girls wrestling emerged victorious in two of their five duals in Marshfield on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Lady Eagles crushed St. James 36-18 and Buffalo 35-18 in their first two. Sullivan dropped their remaining three, falling 56-18 to El Dorado Springs, 60-12 to Marshfield and 42-18 to Owensville. 

Sullivan will host upcoming duals against Washington (Dec. 11) and Ste. Genevieve (Dec. 17 - Senior Night), with both starting at 5 p.m. The Lady Eagles will also compete at a Union Tournament on Friday, Dec. 13.

Ruby Daily (170) ran the table in Marshfield, racking up a team-high 30 points. She rested during her first three rounds, which the other schools forfeited. The senior used her stored-up energy to pin Gracelyn Bull (Marshfield) at 2:20 and Anna Carlin (Owensville) at 1:55. 

Dorie Richardson (140) swept her competition, earning 29 points for Sullivan. She dominated her skirmish against Aja Watson (Buffalo), ending the match early with a 23-3 technical fall at the six-minute mark. She locked up Payton Boyce (Marshfield) at 2:45 for her next victory. The senior also had three forfeited wins.

Chloe Carson (155) notched 18 points for the Lady Eagles, going 3-2 at Marshfield. The sophomore wrapped Mackenzie Klapp (Buffalo) up in 1:14 and seized two forfeited victories.

Abigail Erfurth (235) snatched her three wins and 18 points on forfeits. The sophomore fought tooth and nail in her two losses, which included a 6-4 decision she could not overcome.

Autumn Hardesty (130) kicked off Saturday strong with a 1:15 pin over Adrianne Prawitz (St. James). She gained another six points for the Lady Eagles with a forfeited victory. Hardesty fell in her following three bouts despite putting up an intense fight.

Katie Summers (190) and Starr Hardesty (145) each collected six points for Sullivan due to forfeited victories. Despite falling short of victory, they left everything on the mat in their four other bouts.
