Volleyball Sweeps District Semifinal

The Lady Eagles (14-14-1) swept the Dutchgirls (9-19-3) to clinch a trip to the Class 3 District 9 Championship on Thursday, Oct. 24. Sullivan took all three sets in the semifinal, winning 25-13, 25-11 and 25-13. They knocked Owensville out of district play for the third consecutive year.

Ava Blankenship led Sullivan with 21 attacks, 16 points and 15 kills. She also executed a block.

Karlee Head had a team-high 22 assists. She broke away with 12 attacks, 6 points, four kills and two aces.

Allie Brune played lights out with 14 attacks, 8 points, six kills, a block and an assist. 

Stevi Saling dominated with 17 attacks and ten kills. 

Abby Record lit up the court with 14 attacks and nine kills.

Sydney Montee racked up three attacks, three points, two kills, an ace and an assist.

Ava Todd assisted 14 scores and served up three aces.

Andi Giebler contributed five assists.

Chloe Carson landed an ace against the Dutchgirls. She also kept drives alive with her low digs.

Hayden Webb recorded an attack in her sixth varsity appearance.

The Lady Eagles clashed with St. Clair in the Class 3 District 9 Championship on Monday, Oct. 28. Stats were unavailable at press time.

If Sullivan beats the Lady Bulldogs, they will face the District 8 champion in the Class 3 Sectional on Thursday, Oct. 31. 

If the Lady Eagles win, they will play in the quarterfinal the following Saturday.

With a victory, Sullivan would advance to the Final Four at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The semifinal would take place on Thursday, Nov. 7, while the championship and third-place matchup would occur the day afterward.
