XC Country Finishes Strong At Owensville Invitational
Sullivan’s cross country team shined with four high school medalists at the Owensville Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Zechariah Beagle finished the highest for the varsity boys. He ranked 13th and clocked a time of 18:45.37.
Three boys in the junior varsity race took home medals. Samuel Simington ranked 5th (20:55.76), Beau Jenkins landed 12th (22:30.11), and Austin Ray placed 14th (23:10.03).
Head coach Terry Wood is proud to see his team continue giving their best effort at every meet. He stated, “Athletes were prepared before the [Owensville] race that it would test their fortitude. Testing day took a lot out of them, but each put the fight out there despite fatigue.”
Sullivan competed at the conference meet in St. Clair on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Stats were unavailable at press time.
Wood’s advice for his runners before taking on the Four Rivers competition was “always to fight forward,” explaining, “They have the tools; they just need to use them now.”
The junior varsity boys finished third with 59 points, and the varsity girls rounded out the top nine with 235.
