Softball’s Late Rally Beats Lancers 4-3
The Lady Eagles (4-3) defeated the Lancers (4-3) 4-3 in their duel on Monday, Sept. 9. Sullivan kept their seven-game winning streak alive against Lutheran South after holding off their rally.
Ava Declue hit the ground running as Sullivan’s leadoff batter in the top of the first. Evvie Blankenship sacrificed herself on a flyout, and Declue put the Lady Eagles on the board.
The Lancers responded with a two-run homer in the following inning and later stole another score for a 3-2 lead.
The Lady Eagles mounted a comeback in the top of the 7th. Richardson drove in both Declue and Lohden home on a ground ball double. Rae Corwin made a single to break the tie, allowing Richardson to seize the game-winning run.

Declue led the Lady Eagles with two runs and two walks. She also landed a hit.
Richardson had a team-high 2 RBIs. She also punched it home once, hit twice and doubled.

Blankenship shut the door on the Lancers. She pounded six strikeouts while giving up five hits, four walks and an earned run.
