Rovina M. Schebaum

Rovina M. Schebaum, 105, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Mercy Hospital – Washington.
Rovina was born June 14, 1919 in the rustic beauty of a small log cabin in rural Elmont, Missouri to John and Anna (Schoerr) Betke. She grew up and attended school within the Sullivan School District.
Rovina, began her journey of hard work and service at an early age, starting as a housekeeper in Sullivan. Her life blossomed with love when she married Otto Schebaum on November 20, 1943. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Dolores, Karen, and Mary. Together, they built a life filled with joy and dedication to their family and community in Sullivan.
Rovina's professional life included 17 years at International Shoe and time at Paramount Cap Factory, but her true legacy is found in her commitment to the community. A founding member of the Boone Creek Extension Club, she led with distinction as both president and secretary. Her leadership extended to her role as a local 4-H leader and as President of the Spring Bluff School Community Club, where she influenced many young lives with her wisdom and kindness.
Her hands were rarely still, as Rovina loved quilting. Many of her quilts were donated to charity, while others became treasured gifts for her family members. Her green thumb was evident in the large garden she cultivated, and she took great pleasure in canning the produce she grew, sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and neighbors.
Rovina's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of Saint Matthews Lutheran Church for many years before transferring her membership to Peace Lutheran Church. There, she served as a Sunday School teacher for two decades, imparting her faith to the next generation. Her dedication to the church was further exemplified in her roles within the Ladies Aide, where she served as president, secretary, and treasurer. For 35 years, Rovina also held the positions of secretary and treasurer for the AAL Branch, showcasing her commitment to service and leadership.
Rovina is survived by her daughters, Karen Rohrer of Bourbon, Missouri, and Dolores Jenkins of Saint Clair, Missouri; seven grandchildren; a host of great – grandchildren; a sister, Mary Anna Clark of Hawaii; a son in law, Steve Dickinson of Eureka, Missouri; two faithful friends, Myrl Bledsoe and Pat Bryan; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otto Schebaum; a daughter, Mary Dickinson; a grandson, Mark Jenkins; great – granddaughter, Angela Baker; her parents, John and Anna Betke; two son in laws, Roger Rohrer and Lynn Jenkins; and two siblings, Regina Glaser and her husband Oscar and Paul Betke and his wife, Minnie.
Funeral Services will be 12 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Ed Hatcher officiating.
Visitation will be 10 AM – 12 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Eaton Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
