Wayne D. Neff, 77 of Sullivan passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO. A loving father and distinguished veteran, Wayne’s legacy is one marked by dedication, service and a passion for the great outdoors. 

Wayne was born on May 14, 1947 to Warren and Geraldine (Stroup) Neff in Sullivan. A proud graduate from Sullivan High School, Class of 1965, Wayne's sense of duty led him to serve his country. He was drafted into the United States Army on August 31, 1966, and served honorably until August 30, 1968. His bravery and commitment were recognized with several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars.

After his military service, Wayne joined the workforce at the former Von Wiese Geer in St. Clair. His strong work ethic and leadership qualities quickly became apparent, ultimately guiding him to a supervisory role from which he retired after many loyal years.

Wayne was united in marriage to Beth Bishop, with whom he shared the joy of raising three treasured daughters. Though their paths later diverged, the bond with his daughters remained unbroken.

An avid outdoorsman, Wayne cherished the time spent in nature, fishing and gigging alongside his lifelong friend, Ray Studdard. His passion extended to his beloved farm, where he cared for a diverse collection of animals. From the cattle and horses to the vibrant peacocks and playful goats, Wayne’s farm was a testament to his love for all living things.

Known for his hardworking nature and occasional stubborn streak, Wayne poured his talent into many pursuits. He handcrafted a wagon pulled by his team of horses, meticulously tooling the leather bridles and straps. These creations stood as a testament to the skilled hands and creative spirit he possessed.

Wayne's presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His indomitable spirit and devotion to his family and work have left an indelible mark. 

Wayne is survived by three daughters, Tracy Barch and husband Steve of Bourbon, MO, Amy Immekus and husband Brian of Sullivan, MO, Rachel Sauer and husband Matt of Eureka, MO; six grandchildren, Dalton Ward and wife Taylor, Colton Ward and fiancé Josie, Collin and Sydney Immekus, and Emmeline and Jacob Sauer; two great-grandchildren, James Wayne and Robbin Ward; long-time friend Ray Studdard of Sullivan, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Geraldine Neff. 

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Friday, August 9, 2024 and will end with full Military Honors at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
