Softball Jams Out Two Scrimmage Wins
The Lady Eagles came out soaring ahead in their home jamboree on Friday, Aug. 23. They won both scrimmages, sweeping West Plains 16-4 and beating Marquette 3-2. Each game lasted four innings.
Head coach Ashley Crump was happy to see the Lady Eagles celebrate one another in the dugout and dominate the field. She explained, “Our current strength is our defense and our overall team morale. The girls are really getting along well, and it has been a lot of fun to be together. We will continue to work on our offense and game situation plays this week.”
West Plains
The Lady Eagles crushed the Zizzers 16-4 in their first scrimmage.
Ava Declue was Sullivan’s starting pitcher. She threw a heater on the mound during her two innings, with five strikeouts made and two hits allowed. Declue recorded three K’s alone in the top of the second.
Rae Corwin and Madi Ortner followed in the rotation, pitching for an inning. They both shut the door on West Plains with a strikeout.
Molly Lohden and Corwin led Sullivan with three runs at the plate. Lohden loaded up two walks and an RBI. Corwin went 2-3 at-bat and racked up 2 RBIs with a hit.
Evvie Blankenship brought in 2 RBIs, a run and a hit.
Evelynn Harris, Jada Brooks, Kynlee Peterson and Dorie Richardson recorded a run, an RBI and a hit.
Ella Blanton, Elli Crump and Declue all punched it home once.
Carli McCreary logged an RBI, a hit and a walk.
Kennedi Roach picked up a run and a hit.
Ortner notched a run and a walk.
Cali Koppelmann-Blue made a hit.
Marquette
Sullivan galloped past the Lady Mustangs to win their second game by a score of 3-2.
