Paul Edward Bayless of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO.

Paul was born on August 7, 1968, to the late Joyce Ann (Kline) Smith and Charles William Bayless at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Paul was extremely creative and gifted, particularly in gardening and woodworking. He had a passion for flowers and could grow plants that would rival any horticulturist’s garden. He was a talented carpenter, and his expert craftsmanship lives on in countless homes, including his daughter and son-in-law’s new home that he took great pride in helping to build and decorate.

Paul’s greatest attribute was his selflessness. If he learned that anyone was in need, he would do everything within his power to help. He always put the needs of others before his own.

He will be warmly remembered for his caring heart, his ornery smile, his love for hunting and cooking, and the importance he placed on relationships with family, friends, and tradition. As his granddaughter Addisin says, “When you’re sad, his hugs always make you feel better.” His mark on the hearts of others leaves our world a better place.

Paul is survived by his beloved daughter and only child, Samantha Kay (Goodman) Ransom and husband Benjamin of Leasburg, MO; two cherished granddaughters, Addisin Kay Lynn and Lilly Ann Ransom of the family home; his only sister, Diana Renée (“Sis”) Prusik and husband Steve of Cedar Hill, MO; two nieces; two nephews; three great-nieces; six great-nephews; three aunts, Alice McClary of St. Louis, MO, Bonnie Richardson of St. Charles, MO, and Donna Eaton of St. Louis, MO; special friends Gina Cook and Chris Dierking; cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sisters, twins Carol Ann and Sheryl Ann Bayless of Sullivan, MO.

Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor John Blackmore officiating.  Burial will follow at Enloe-Hodge Cemetery, Bourbon, MO.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home.
