Elizabeth Hall, a woman celebrated for her spirited zest for life and unwavering love for her family, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, at the age of 90. Born as Elizabeth Bata in Koszeg, Hungary, on January 9, 1934, to the late John and Julia Bata, she emerged as a beacon of dedication and love throughout her life.

The strength of a new beginning marked Elizabeth's journey as she, along with her husband Joseph Csonka, bravely ventured to New York in 1957. Arriving in St. Louis, Missouri, the Csonka family found their new home, where they would cherish moments, create memories, and nurture their three beloved children, Joseph, Elizabeth, and Eva.

Elizabeth's work ethic was as admirable as her love for family. After settling in Missouri, she found her calling in 1968 as a laundress at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. Working diligently, she gained immense pride in becoming a United States citizen in 1970 and loyally served St. John's until 1978. The fortitude to face and adapt to life's changes was evident when she became a widow after Mr. Csonka's death in 1973.

Fortune smiled upon Elizabeth again in matters of the heart as she found love and married Ed Smith in 1977. In 1989, a new chapter began when she married John Hall, and together they transformed a simple wooded lot in Sullivan into a slice of heaven on earth. Elizabeth's green thumb coaxed life into beautiful flowers, turning their home into a sanctuary for her cherished hummingbirds. Elizabeth was also a woman of faith and was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Elizabeth lived a vibrant life, enriched by passions that reflected her colorful personality. She valiantly spoke her mind, unapologetic and bold, yet remained an incredible source of love and care as an amazing woman and mother. Her leisure hours were joyfully spent with a fishing rod in her hands. Elizabeth had two beloved dogs, Pooch and Kayla, who brought her great joy.

Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Sederes and Eva Firehammer and husband Lou all of St. Clair, MO; one brother Steven Bata of Hungary; five grandchildren, Richard Heisler and wife Doree, Elizabeth Heisler Hoffman, Amy Sederes, Johnathon Briscoe and wife Danielle, Christina Hawks and husband Ronnie; fourteen great-grandchildren, Josh, Eric, Ashley, Trinitie, Destinee, Alysa, Alexis, Alexander, Britty, Lyric, Lola, Victoria, Michael and Tyler; four great-great-grandchildren, Chole, Shelby, Shawn and Dean; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Csonka; son in law, Robert Sederes; and brother, John Bata.
