Fraternal Order Of Eagles Claw To 6-4 Victory Over PuroClean (12U)

The Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) kept their undefeated record alive with a 6-4 win over PuroClean on Monday, June 10.

Both defenses took their turns locking down the diamond in the first inning.

FOE managed to claw themselves onto the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the second. Kein S. took the diamond with a ground ball single to get a storm brewing for FOE. He later stole 2nd base, then sneaked to 3rd and punched it home on an error by the catcher. Evan R. also caught PuroClean off-guard, stealing third base and then clutching their second score.

FOE swooped up their next three runs in the top of the 4th for a 5-0 lead. Grayson C., Evan E. and Ryker S. all walked onto the diamond. Jace B. then sacrificed himself on fielder’s choice to allow Greyson C. to score. On that same play, Evan E. was made out while gliding to third base. As Cole R. took his first swing, Ryker S. stole 3rd, and Jace B. followed to 2nd. Ryker S. capitalized on an error by the pitcher to snatch FOE’s fourth run, and Jace B. also landed on home after a wild pitch.

PuroClean dusted off their side of the scoreboard with three runs in the following inning. Roman R. fired up the battle with a deep strike to center field. He raced to third base as Cameron S. seized their first score. Cruz K. launched a grounder to allow Roman R. to conquer home. Their final charge across the dish came when Jacob B. smoked a ground ball, giving Tyson W. the chance to cut it to a two-run deficit.

FOE captured their final run in the top of the 5th. Lucas S. led off the inning with a hard ground ball single. Then, when Jalex S. was at-bat, Lucas S. soared across the diamond to 2nd and 3rd base. He took his final landing with a dive at home plate for a 6-3 lead.

In the bottom of the 6th, PuroClean took their last swing at a comeback, knowing they had to face the music. The inning began with a strikeout and Roman R. walking to first base. Cruz K. stepped up to the plate and ripped a fly ball on his first swing. Roman R. clutched their fourth run, but Cruz K. was caught out while advancing to home. Despite PuroClean’s comeback hopes on the ropes, FOE pitcher Evan R ended the bout with a strikeout.
