Ray Pewitt

Ray Pewitt, a man revered for his dedicated service to his country and his deep-rooted family values, passed away on December 4, 2023, in Manchester, Tennessee. Born on the Fourth of July in 1942, in Pacific, Missouri, Ray's life was marked by a patriotism that defined his very essence.
Educated in Moselle and Union, Ray embodied the disciplined and community-oriented spirit of his hometown. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with honor from August 21, 1959, to December 20, 1968. Not yet finished with his commitment to service, Ray then joined the Air Force, continuing a distinguished military career until October 31, 1979. Ray was awarded the Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Metal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Metal Army with one Loop, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Upon retirement, Ray settled in Tullahoma, Tennessee to lovingly care for his aging parents. In his leisure, traveling brought him great joy, allowing him to explore and appreciate the vast beauty and diversity of the world.
Ray is survived by his sister, Alice Rogers and husband Jimmy of Sullivan; sister- in -law, Dorothy Pewitt; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Pewitt, Jr. and wife Joann, Willard Pewitt; his brother-in-law, James Bay, Sr.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem, MO, with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the care of The Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
