Girls Soccer Caps Off Season At Semifinals

The third-seeded Lady Eagles (15-8-2) wrapped up their season with a 2-1 loss to host Helias Catholic (12-9) on Tuesday, May 14, in the Class 2 District 4 Semifinals. Stats were unavailable at press time.

The day before, Sullivan knocked Blair Oaks (14-9) out of the playoffs with a 2-1 win. Eden Lambert and Tessa Newman scored for Sullivan, while Jada Adams and Molly Lohden provided the assists.

Head coach Matt Wiegers is proud of his girls for staying resilient through this year’s hills and valleys and his seniors for leaving an everlasting mark on the team. “I am thankful for the seniors and what they have meant to this program over the last four years,” he explained. “I hope they have seen how their talent has brought us to this stage of the program.”

Wiegers is also excited to see what his rising stars will bring to the table in the coming years, stating, “The younger players have looked up to [the seniors] for multiple seasons now, and with their leadership, we are ready to take the program to the next step.”
