SHS Lady Eagles Say Goodbye To DeSoto In Senior Night Fashion
After the seniors said their goodbyes to their friends and families, they and the rest of the Lady Eagles (14-7-2) made sure DeSoto (0-18-1) was not left out either. Sullivan slayed the Lady Dragons 3-0 for a Senior Night shutout on Tuesday, May 7.
2024 graduates Cambria Pohlman, Maria Schatzl, Hayli Venable, Alyssa Johnson and Abigail Smith were celebrated before the game. But senior Zehn Porter, who had been on injured reserve the entire season, was the highlight of the evening. Porter made the opening kick-off in her only game appearance this year and final bow as a Lady Eagle. As she made her swan song off the field, the crowd applauded, and her team hugged her one last time.
Porter said the moment is one she will never forget, stating, “It was honestly surreal because I didn’t even realize ‘til walking off and hugging everyone that it really was my last time on a soccer field. I’m going to miss making memories with some of the greatest girls that I have known, and I’m so proud of them. I will also miss my coaches. They were so uplifting and supportive of me with my injury, and I never went a day without a great support system. Wiegers allowing me on the field for kick-off was amazing, and I’m so thankful for that.”
During the game, Jada Adams fired off two goals on three shots.
Ava Hayes balled out with five shots and a goal.
Pohlman pulled off five shots and an assist.
Eden Lambert racked up an assist and a shot.
Venable and Tessa Newman both attempted two shots.
Ella Kirk and Kara Schmidt launched a shot.
