Eagles Get Tested By Dragons Ahead Of Districts
Sullivan’s baseball team (16-9) struggled to tame the DeSoto Dragons (14-11) in a 7-3 loss on Tuesday, May 7. The match was their final of the regular season.
Head coach Ian Whitson hopes this road bump will better prepare the top-seeded Eagles for their run for another district title. He tells them to keep “playing fundamental baseball: throw strikes, make the plays that you’re expected to make and put the ball in play. If we do those three things, we will be just fine.”
Sullivan will play their first Class 4 District 4 round against the host, St. Clair, on Wednesday, May 15 at 3 p.m.
If they win the semifinal, they will advance to the championship, played that same day at 7 p.m.
Alex Toews brought in a team-high 2 RBIs while also making a hit.
Drake Gawer led the Eagles with two hits.
Landen Doza and Nolan Ulrich both grabbed a run and a walk.
Chase Blue delivered a run and a hit.
Dayton Skaggs launched an RBI on his hit.
