Robert Henry Isom, Jr., 57, of Sullivan, Missouri, affectionately known as JR to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Sullivan. Born on November 21, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, Robert Sr. and Nancy (McGraw) Isom, JR's early life was split between the communities of Pacific and Catawissa, where he attended local schools and laid the foundations of a life characterized by hard work, humor, and generosity.

JR spent the majority of his career as a dedicated laborer in the construction industry, where he was particularly talented at ensuring job sites were clean and well-maintained. His colleagues knew him as a caring individual with a big heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. His selflessness extended beyond the workplace, touching every community he lived in with his willingness to help others. JR's kindness and generosity of spirit left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Outside of work, JR took immense pride in his daughter, Karia. His love for her was evident to all, as he never missed an opportunity to share stories and celebrate her achievements. JR's passion for life was also reflected in his love for Harley Davidson motorcycles, a hobby that brought him great joy and a sense of freedom. Gardening and watching movies were among his other cherished pastimes, allowing him moments of relaxation and reflection.

For nearly two decades, JR shared his life with his beloved companion, Karen Gambill. Together, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as cleaning their home and going for rides, always cherishing each other's company. Their relationship was built on a foundation of mutual respect, love, and the shared joy of everyday adventures.

JR was known for his playful sense of humor, often punctuated by his ability to poke fun and tease those around him in a light-hearted and endearing manner. His laughter was infectious, and his presence could brighten even the gloomiest of days. Those who knew JR will remember him as funny, kind, and selfless—a man who brought happiness and warmth to every room he entered.

JR is survived by his beloved daughter, Karia of St. Clair, MO; loving companion, Karen Gambill of Sullivan; his siblings:  Cecil Isom and wife, Cathy of Pacific, MO, Wanda Caldillo and husband, Leoneo of Florida, Roger Maxwell, and James Curttiner and wife, Lisa; stepchildren, Autum Immekus of Sullivan and Luther Everhart of Union, MO; his good friend and “brother”, Jimmy Graham and significant other, Triston Herrington of St. Clair; and numerous nieces, nephews, step nieces & nephews, and other relatives.
