Don P. Roberts

Don P. Roberts, 89, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024, at The Arbors of Sullivan.
Donald Paul Roberts was born on January 8, 1935, in Cora, Illinois, to Harry and Mary (Bergman) Roberts. Don grew up and attended school in Chester, Illinois, where he attended Chester High School. It was there that he met the love of his life, Carol Lindner, and was united in marriage on November 29, 1959. After high school, Don pursued a degree in engineering that led him to the Rolla School of Mines. However, his academic pursuits were temporarily put on hold when he answered the call of duty to serve his country and spent two years in the US Army which included a deployment to Korea at the end of the Korean War.
Upon discharge from the Army, Don resumed his studies, eventually earning his degree and embarking on a career that would take him to mines in New Mexico and Colorado. Don later moved back to Missouri, where he joined the Meramec Mining Company and Pea Ridge Mines. Starting as an engineer, and then being promoted to superintendent, he oversaw the underground operations before being promoted to assistant manager, responsible for both below and above ground operations.
Once settling in Sullivan, Don and Carol welcomed their three children: Doug, David, and Susan. Don was a devoted father, instilling in his children the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of family.
Don cherished the simple pleasures in life, such as taking car rides with Carol, where they shared stories, dreams, and laughter. Together, they embarked on several memorable trips to Florida, creating memories that would warm their hearts for years to come. Don's love for his family was boundless, and he took joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Don was a dedicated Christian and served God while following the teachings of Brother William Marrion Branham.
Don is survived by two children, Doug Roberts and wife Juanita of Tucson, AZ, and Susan Sharp and husband Alan of Charlestown, IN; nine grandchildren: Joshua, Ashley, Daniel, Austin, Lauren, and Debbie Roberts, Sarah Waddell and husband Isaac, and Isaac and Nathan Sharp; two great grandchildren: Isabella and Aniah Waddell; two brothers: Richard Roberts and wife Ann of California and Steve Roberts of Saint Louis, Missouri; a sister in law, Jean Roberts of California; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; a son, David Roberts; his parents, Harry and Mary; and a brother, Jim Roberts.
