Boys Wrestling Secures Four-Peat At DeSoto
Boys wrestling were declared champions at the 46th Bob Georger Classic in DeSoto for the fourth consecutive year on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Head coach Carl Lawrence described winning this meet as a “big confidence boost” for his team. “It is an extremely tough tournament with high-class opponents out of Class 3 and Class 4, and winning this tournament for a fourth year in a row says a lot about our tradition and consistency in the program.”
The Eagles finished first with 228 points. The host DeSoto made 2nd, Liberty-Wentzville and Pacific tied for 3rd, followed by St. Pius X (Festus), Mehlville, Festus, Valle Catholic, Potosi and Webster Groves, which rounded out the top 10. There were 21 teams in total.
Sullivan had two individual champions last Saturday: Camden Henderson (26-5) in his second go-around in DeSoto and Conner Roach (23-2) in his first.
Henderson clinched 1st place in the 113 class and scored 28 points for his team. He swiftly pinned Wyatt Langford (Mehlville) in 0:46, Easton Koetting (Valle Catholic) in 2:24 and Edris Rahimi (Hancock) in 0:56.
Roach finished 1st in the 132 class with 28 points. He wrapped up Jacob Spoor (Liberty-Wentzville) in 0:34, Conner Clanton (Valle Catholic) in 1:40 and Thomas Bradley (DeSoto) in 1:37.
Colton Brendel (27-3), Adam Peregoy (26-6) and Dominic Ransom (21-4) have competed at each DeSoto tournament since 2021, when Sullivan began their four-year winning streak. All three have reached a milestone of 100 career wins this season.
Brendel ranked 2nd in the 165 class with 24 points. Ransom and Peregoy were both placed as the runner-ups in their groups.
