Lady Eagles Soar Over Salem In 51-39 Victory
The varsity Lady Eagles (5-11) soared to a 51-39 district victory over Salem (4-14) on Thursday, Jan. 25. Sullivan played tough defense and made a season-high 25 steals against the Lady Tigers.
Varsity has two back-to-back wins after snapping their seven-game losing skid to St. Clair the previous Saturday.
Head coach Jordan Flora stated that these victories are “helping build our confidence, and we are more relaxed and having fun.”
The Lady Eagles have not beaten Salem since Dec. 10, 2018, in the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic. Their most recent matchup with the Lady Tigers came in a Class 4 District 3 semifinal loss on Mar. 2, 2023.
Flora attributed his team’s win to executing the game plan flawlessly with total effort and working hard together all night. “I thought we did a fantastic job of moving the basketball and being unselfish,” he explained. “We were catching low and ready to shoot the ball, and we played with a lot of confidence.”
