Girls Basketball Breaks Seven-Game Losing Streak In Union Consolation
The Lady Eagles (4-11) won consolation at the 44th Annual Lady Wildcat Tournament in Union on Saturday, Jan. 20. They swept St. Clair (4-9) 45-25, snapping their seven-game losing streak and capping off their three-game stretch.
In the two days before their consolation victory, they had fallen 35-26 to Capital City and lost 51-38 to Father Tolton just 24 hours later.
Before playing St. Clair, head coach Jordan Flora mentioned that he hoped to see his team “come out with that same intensity, aggressiveness and confidence” that he saw in the first two games of the stretch.
Sullivan was fighting for their first win since Dec. 13, and despite playing for three days in a row, they overcame the Lady Bulldogs to break the losing streak.
Flora has reminded his team “to continue just grinding it out.” He emphasized the importance of resilience to his players, stating, “That’s what we work for; you know, that’s what we do every single day. You put the work in for times like these.”
The Lady Eagles’ hard work came to life against St. Clair as they fired on all cylinders with complete confidence and intensity, taking Flora’s message to heart.
