Girls Wrestling Takes 3rd At St. Clair Classic

Sullivan finished 3rd place out of 17 at the St. Clair Classic Girls Tournament on Friday, Jan. 19.

Dorie Richardson (140) clinched 1st place, scored 26 points and was voted the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the tournament. She persevered in two lengthy battles for her opening rounds, defeating Peyton Dunn (St. Clair) in 5:05 and Lucy Holleman (Eldon) in 5:13. After a round 3 bye, she won in 2:00 over Merrick Blankenship (Owensville) and in a 3-1 decision over Eddyson Reeves (Herculaneum).

Mariah Denney (120) finished first and scored a team-high 30 points. Going undefeated, she pinned Madelyn Hucker (Wright City) in 2:19, Molly Masalskis (Parkway West) in 3:20, Liliana Wiedemeier (Wright City) in 0:57, Lilly Verrett (St. Clair) in 1:30 and Ariana Richardson (West Plains) in 4:55.

Jade Studdard (135) and Abigail Erfurth (235) secured 2nd place.

Maria Schatzl (155) took 3rd, while Ruby Daily (170) and Chloe Carson (190) placed 4th.
