Chris Carthy, 60, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at LifeCare Center of Sullivan.

Richard Christopher Carthy was born May 10, 1963, in Belleville, IL, to Richard and Roberta (De Marse) Carthy. Growing up in Florissant, Missouri, Chris attended grade school at St. Dismas Catholic School, later graduating from McCluer North High School, class of 1982.

Chris began working for various HVAC companies in the Saint Louis region before embarking on a successful 20+ year career within the Pipefitter and Plumbers Local 562.

Outside of work, Chris enjoyed spending time with his family. Particularly fond of the outdoors, Chris loved to go camping and fishing when given the opportunity. The Lake of the Ozarks was a favorite of his. He also was known for his grilling skills and was granted the “Grill Master” title by his family and friends. He was a huge fan of good barbeque and a cold Busch beer.

Chris loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He treasured time spent racing remote control cars with Reid and “sharing” his hats with Carlee. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, MASH and Andy Griffith. Chris was a lover of Saint Louis Blues Hockey and also loved watching soccer and rugby. He will be so dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Chris is survived by his son, Zack Carthy and wife Emilee of Sullivan, Missouri; two step-children, Joe Kilburn of Sullivan, Missouri and Krista Stewart of O’Fallon, Missouri; two beloved grandchildren: Reid and Carlee Carthy of Sullivan, Missouri; two step-grandchildren, Olivia Hempel and Sean Stewart of O’Fallon, Missouri; a sister, Lisa Bocci and husband Paul of the Lake of the Ozarks; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Roberta; and two sisters, Patty Edwards and Connie Simko.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Graveside Services will be 11 AM, Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Florissant, Missouri. Committal service will be conducted in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
