Sullivan XC Celebrated Team Achievements At Banquet
The Sullivan cross country team held its annual end-of-year banquet on Monday, Nov. 13. Head coach Terry Wood presented awards to the most improved and highest-achieving runners.
To begin, Wood awarded siblings Abram and Mariah Denney the 2023 MVRunner awards, citing their “amazing and consistent victories week after week.”
Junior A. Denney had an exceptional season, setting a new Sullivan High School 2-mile record and achieving the team’s season-best 5k record at the state level at 16:24.40. Abram also reached the fastest 2-mile time in Class 4 District 2 and the Four Rivers Conference.
Freshman M. Denney made history by finishing 1st place in various competitions, breaking the Sullivan High School 5k record with a time of 18:34.75 at the district level. She also achieved the fastest 2-mile time of 12:22.00 in Class 4 within the Four Rivers Conference. Additionally, she impressively finished in 2nd place at districts and 5th place at the state level.
