Girls Wrestling Get Ready For The Mat
Head coach Brad Landwehr is excited to work with his girls’ wrestling team in improving their efforts on the mat and continuing their postseason success.
This year, the team is described by Landwehr as “a great mixture of upper class leaders and dynamic freshmen” and will consist of 13 wrestlers.
The freshmen joining the team are Mariah Denney, Chloe Carson, Alyssa Beers, Abigail Erfurth and Mariah Martin. Landwehr expressed that these rookies “have shown some great work ethic so far and bring some prior wrestling experience from our middle school program as well. We are excited to see these girls build upon the foundation that our upper class girls have laid.”
Returning to the team are state medalist Dorie Richardson and two state qualifiers, Jade Studdard and Ruby Daily. Maria Schatzl and Karen Dietzler, who came just one match close to joining the others at the state tournament, will also be returning this season.
Landwehr is excited to see his team’s hard work come to life at their first tournament in Wright City on Saturday, Nov. 18. “Our girls work extremely hard and have a great attitude. Our amazing community has shown a lot of support for our up-and-coming program. I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to be a part of it,” he stated.
Sullivan will compete in their second meet in Owensville on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
The Lady Eagles will then host a home wrestling tri-meet on Dec. 14, where they will face both Owensville and Potosi.
