Mason Mertz executed a shot.

Eagles goalkeeper Alex Toews made 11 saves.

It was also Senior Night for the boys’ soccer team. The players that were recognized were Koch, Kraus, Thomure and Max Avery.

Regarding the four seniors graduating, boys’ soccer head coach Brian Immekus said, “Our seniors have only been a part of 9 victories over the last two seasons (so far), but I hope they are able to recognize their improvements and successes that go beyond wins and losses.”

He hopes that they understand the tremendous impact they had on the Eagles, explaining, “I want them to realize the hard work was noticed and important for our program going forward. They laid a foundation that I hope the next group builds upon and takes to the next level based off of their example.”

Upcoming Events

The Eagles faced Festus at home on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. and the following day, they played Warrenton. Stats were not available at press time.

Before the Festus game, Immekus stated that he wanted to finish Sullivan’s home schedule with a victory, saying, “We’ve had many opportunities slip through our hands, so if we are in position to win, I hope we are able to seize the moment and finish this week’s contests with a victory.”

Sullivan has the No. 3 seed in their district and they will compete in the quarterfinals against the No. 6 seed Roosevelt/Carnahan on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. in Clayton. The district semifinal will then be held on Monday, Oct. 30 at 4:15 p.m. and the championship will take place on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m.

For winning districts, head coach Brian Immekus claimed that “it’s always better to be entering districts on a high note and playing with confidence. I know our defense and goalkeeping will travel. But, we need to see our offensive players put balls in the back of the net this week to be victorious.”
