Merle Spindler

Merle Spindler, 91 of Sullivan, MO passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, MO.
Merle was born on March 13, 1932, to the late Walter and Sarah Esther (Reeves) Spindler in Sullivan, MO. He honorably served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army from September 23, 1952, to September 10, 1954. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Tyree and two sons were born to their union, Jerry and Trent.
Merle was gifted in business and construction. He built many of the local homes in the area and owned and managed several rental properties. He owned and operated Spindler Carpet from 1965 to 1995. Merle was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He was frugal and yet generous all at the same time.
Merle was married to Audrey Sego nee Reed on March 13, 1981, and gained a step-daughter and later a grandson. Audrey preceded him in death on November 1, 2018. Merle gave his heart to the Lord later in life and attended and was a faithful member of First Assembly of God where he was known to gift many of the children with candy and presents.
He is survived by his son Jerry Spindler of Steelville, MO; one step-daughter, Christina Sego and her son Jordan Sego of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Christa Spindler of Steelville, MO, Heather Spindler and husband Dan Martin of St. Louis, MO, Brandon Spindler and wife Susan of Sullivan, MO; one sister, Imogene Busch of Sullivan, MO; one brother, Gary Spindler and wife Mari of Stanton, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Along with his parents and wife Audrey, Merle was preceded in death by his son Trent Spindler; three brothers, Walter, Albert and Cranford Spindler; two sisters, Lois Renick and Barbara Spindler.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM, Friday, September 22, 2023, at First Assembly of God in Sullivan with Pastor Kyle Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Friday at First Assembly of God.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, MO are appreciated.
