The Sullivan Baseball Program is pleased to introduce Mr. Kris Poore as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2024 season. Poore was recently hired to teach social studies at Sullivan Middle School.

Poore is a 2009 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School in Quincy, Illinois. After graduation, he attended Illinois College, where he was a 4-year starting outfielder in their baseball program. He later attended Saint Louis University, where he received a master’s degree.

Poore brings with him 3 years of high school baseball coaching experience; 1 year as an assistant and most recently serving 2 years as the Head Baseball Coach at New Haven High School.

When asked what he is most looking forward to in this new position, Poore replied, “I am looking forward to the opportunity to be in the district and with work with some great people. Though I’m not from Sullivan, my wife’s family are tried-and-true Eagles. My late father-in-law was Marty Tiefenbrunn, who loved the Sullivan community and Eagles sports deeply. So for my wife and kids, I am proud to carry on a tradition and be close to family.”

Varsity Head Coach Ian Whitson said of the addition, “Coach Poore brings a great baseball background and additional coaching experience to our program. I’m thrilled for him to join our staff and am looking forward to working with him in our off-season workouts and in the spring season to come!”
