Geraldine H. McMahan

Geraldine H. McMahan, 83 of Sullivan, MO passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.
Geraldine was born on July 1, 1939 to Elmer E. and Florence M. (Doss) Harmon. While Geraldine was living in Chicago, she was employed by Pixley and Ehlers Restaurant and also worked for the Adams Street Tap. Rodger was a taxi driver. They were united in marriage on August 20, 1956. They would later renew their vows on February 1961. The McMahan family made their home in the Cuba and Sullivan area for a time, later moving to Nebraska and Reno, Nevada. They made their final home in Sullivan in 1971. Geraldine took good care of her family and also worked as an in- home care giver to her disabled husband for many years. She was a Cub Scout leader, Life-time member of the Disabled Veterans of America and a member of the International Society of Poetry. Over fifty of Geraldine’s poems were published. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She continued to write beautiful poetry until the time of her passing including the poem that is included in her memorial folder. Geraldine was a proud and independent woman. She always spoke her mind and you knew where you stood with her at all times. She was loved by her family, extended family and many friends.
Geraldine is survived by three children, Kathy Dodd and husband Floyd of Warsaw, MO, Joyce McMahan- Schultz and husband James of Kansas City, Kansas, Marty McMahan of Farmington, MO; four grandchildren, Jacob McMahan of San Tan Valley, AZ, Jayde Cangialosi of Mesa, AZ, Danielle Curtis of Maricopa, AZ and Ethan Schultz of Kansas City, Kansas; twelve great-grandchildren, Blake, Nathan, Hannah, Brandon, Victoria, Angel, Johnathan, Vico, Jackson, Alec, Waylon and Dyson; two sisters, Norma Compton of Potosi, MO and Joyce Snyder of Cape Gerardo, MO; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Donna Harmon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Rodger McMahan; two children, Nathan McMahan and a child in infancy; her parents, Elmer Harmon and Florence Doss Rawlings; step father, Arthur Rawlings; three brothers, Arthur, Paul and Johnnie Dale Harmon; two sisters, Wilma Petrangaro and husband Carman and Imogene Harmon.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Jerry Compton officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Butts, MO.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
