Richard “Dick” R. Harrison, 82, of Kirkwood, MO, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

Richard Roy Harrison was born May 6, 1940 to George and Velva (Summers) Harrison in Wichita, KS. Dick grew up and attended grade school in Ohio, later moving to Kirkwood and graduating from Kirkwood High in the class of 1958. He then furthered his education in engineering at the Missouri School of the Mines. After his college career, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Zitzmann in October of 1966 and together they were blessed with a son, William. Sadly, they later divorced.

In 1962, Dick enlisted into the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for nearly 6 years. His time in the service instilled in him a strong sense of duty and discipline, which he carried with him throughout his life.

Upon completing his service, Dick embarked on a successful career at Monsanto, where he started as a technician and worked his way to becoming a supervisor. After 21 years of dedication and hard work, he retired in 2004.

In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors fishing and hunting. Dick was also an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan! He loved watching all things western, Gunsmoke and films starring John Wayne were his favorites.

Dick had an infectious laugh and was a genuine friend to many. You always knew where you stood with him. In his later years, Dick grew in his faith and accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Dick is survived by his loving son, Bill Harrison of Kirkwood, MO; two brothers, Mike Harrison and wife Vera of Long Beach, CA and Steve Harrison and wife Sally of Liberty, MO; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velva.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM, Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor John Blackmore officiating.

Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Louis Fisher House.
