Gertie M. Tourville
Gertie Tourville, 79, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Union Care Center in Union, MO.
Gertie Mae Orton was born July 9, 1943 to James and Gladys (Orick) Orton in Saint Louis, MO. She grew up in the St. Louis area before moving out to Sullivan at a young age. Gertie was united in marriage to John Tourville on March 27, 1963 and to this union there were three children: Gordon, Tina, and Bryan. Most of her life was devoted to caring for home and raising her family however she spent some time working for the Brown Shoe Co. as well as helping at Dr. Scott’s office in town. Gertie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed shopping and getting her hair done also. Gertie was creative and was greatly interested in crafts, scrapbooking and even bird-watching. She was quick-witted and had a good sense of humor. Many will remember her for having a kind heart and sweet spirit. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Gertie is survived by her three children: Gordon Tourville of Sullivan, MO, Tina LaRose and husband Tom of Villa Ridge, MO and Bryan Tourville and wife Alison of Sullivan, MO; five grandchildren: Hanna Tourville and Ashlee Tourville both of Sullivan, Erin LaRose of St. Louis, MO, Tori LaRose of Columbia, MO and Bradley Tourville of Sullivan; three great – grandchildren: Mac, Griffin, and Falynn; three brothers: Roy Watson and wife Pat of Sullivan, Butch Orton and wife Theodora of Leasburg, MO and Johnny Orton and wife Becky of Sullivan; a sister, Connie Roskowski and husband Doug of St. James, MO; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John and her parents, James and Gladys.
Services will be 12:00 PM Noon, Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan with Pastor Johnny Orton officiating. Burial will be at Bourbon Cemetery in Bourbon, MO.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Noon, Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan.
