Lady Eagles Have Four Qualify For State

Four Lady Eagles qualifed for State wrestling for the first time in school history. Additionally, Dorie Richardson brought home the first ever girls district championship in school history. The girls team finished in third place (100) out of twenty nine teams over the weekend.

St. Clair won the team championship with 149. Ste. Genevieve finished in second with 103. Sikeston got fourth with 92.5 and Central Park Hills rounded out the top five with 78.

Karen Dietzler's season came to an end at 120. She received a bye in the first round. Dietzler pinned Owensville's Elizabeth Adams at 5:04 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she was pinned by Hollyn Zangaro of Ste. Genevieve at two minutes. She fell in the consolation semifinal by a 10-1 major decision to Hancock's Chloe Bradshaw.

Jade Studdard finished in fourth and qualified for State for the 130 class. She pinned Janiya Gray of Kennett at 5:14. In the quarterfinals, Studdard defeated Brentwood’s Danyielle Wren by a 11-7 decision. She was pinned by St. Clair’s Audrey DeClue at 4:34 in the semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Studdard defeated Siketson’s Kimarhi Wilkins by a 7-2 decision. She fell in the third place match when she was pinned by Katlynn Lay of Ste. Genevieve at 1:29.

Sadie Altimus' stellar season came to an end for the 135 class. She received a bye in the first round. In the second round, Altimus pinned Sierra Hill of St. Pius X (Festus) at 1:59. In round three, she was pinned by Grace Dust of Festus at 2:01.

Richardson took home the first ever girls district championship for 140. In round one, she pinned Dexter’s Kailey Cook in nineteen seconds. Richardson pinned North County’s Jayden Pendelton at 2:59 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she defeated St. Clair’s Peyton Dunn by a 7-2 decision. Richardson won the championship when she pinned Union’s Gracie Straatman at 3:24.

Maria Schatzl’s season ended for the 145 class. In round one, she pinned Katherine Shaw of Westminister Christian Academy at fifty-one seconds. Schatzl was pinned in the quarterfinals by Sikeston’s Shanell Williams at 5:57. In the second round of the consolation, she pinned Martha Kranstanoff of Central Park Hills at 2:56. Schatzl pinned Reese Ronzio of Windsor Imperial at 2:51 in the third round of consolation. In the consolation semifinals, Schatzl fell by a 7-6 decision to St. Clair’s Hannah Thacker.

Katie Summers had her stellar season come to an end for the 155 class. In round one, she was pinned by St. Clair’s Molly Brown at twenty-five seconds. In the first round of the consolation, she pinned Sikeston’s Ryleigh Coburn at 1:28. Summers was pinned by Owensville’s Josie Gerlemann at thirty-four seconds in round two of the consolation.

Ruby Daily took home the second place medal and qualified for State for the 170 class. Daily received a bye in the first round and pinned Ella Choate of St. Pius X (Festus) in the quarterfinals at 1:08. In the semifinals, she pinned St. Clair’s Kaitlynn Van De Wile at 2:25. Daily was pinned in the first place match by Owensville’s Bailee Dare at 1:49.

Reya Bristow finished the day by taking home a second place medal and qualified for State for the 235 class. She received a bye in the first round and pinned Latahvia Williams of STEAM Academy at 1:25 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Bristow pinned St. Clair’s Cheyanna Rincon’campos at 2:53. She was pinned by Sikeston’s Alayna Ryan in the first place match at 3:02.
