Sister Dorothy E. Lauberth

Sister Dorothy E. Lauberth, 90, of Sullivan, MO passed away peacefully Sunday, December 18, 2022 at her home.

Sister Dorothy Elizabeth was born on February 28, 1932 in Freeburg, MO to Joseph Henry and Mary (Eisterhold) Lauberth. She grew up and attended school in the Freeburg area before graduating and moving to St. Louis.  She worked several years in St. Louis before entering The Sisters of St. Mary’s Community.  Sister Dorothy was a member of the community for over 25 years.  During this time, she continued her education and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.  Sister Dorothy spent much of her career as a nurse, not only ministering as a nurse in many states but also in several Missouri penitentiaries.  After a period of time, she entered the Sisters for Christian Community where she remained until her passing.

Sister Dorothy, a faith-filled woman, loved cooking, baking, making new friends and spending time with those she loved.  She was a prayer warrior and made a habit of visiting and taking communion to whomever was in need.  She also loved her dog, Bandit.  Sister Linda, a companion for 45 years and Sister Joann, a companion for 22 years, were sisters in community as well as special friends.

Sister Dorothy is survived by her brother, Joseph Lauberth and his wife, Jane of St. Louis, MO; her sister, Ann Tillman and her late husband, Joseph of Jefferson City, MO; a sister-in-law, Esther Lauberth of Westphalia, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews and many other cherished family and friends. Sister Dorothy will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jerome Lauberth; and a sister, Dolores Cernich and her husband, Ralph.

Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 31, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Father Paul Telken celebrating.

Visitation will be 9:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday, prior to the mass at St Anthony Catholic Church.

Memorials can be given for masses in memory of Sister Dorothy Lauberth.
