Daniel ‘Dan’ Savant

Daniel “Dan” Savant, 88, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully, at his home, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Dan was born on October 26, 1933 in Woodside, LA, to Daniel Webster and Hazel (Dozier) Savant. He grew up and attended school in Melville, LA. He soon joined the United States Army and served his country until being honorably discharged in 1955.
Dan married Shirley G. Bandy on April 11, 1952, and to this union they were blessed with three children: Vickie, Richard, and Tracy. They raised their family in Sullivan, MO. Dan worked for McDonnell Douglas for most of his working career. He was always a hard worker and a good provider for his family. After retiring in 1989, he and Shirley enjoyed traveling together. They were snowbirds, so during the winter months, they would travel to Florida and Texas.
Dan enjoyed staying busy, so he eventually came to work for the Eaton Funeral Home - a job that he truly came to love and that gave him a sense of purpose. Dan and Shirley were members of Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, where he served as a deacon. Shirley passed away in March of 2017, just shy of their 65th wedding anniversary.
Dan enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was watching the neighbor kids play, feeding birds, gardening, fishing, and much more. He was also very strict about keeping his flag straightened. His family and friends will miss his presence, his willingness to listen and be a great confidant. Dan will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Dan is survived by his three children: Vickie Hahn and husband Daniel of Sullivan, MO, Richard Savant and wife Connie of Nevada, MO, and Tracy Savant and wife Susan of Bourbon, MO; five grandchildren: Shannon Lechten and husband John of Sullivan, MO, Danny Hahn and wife Lee of St. Louis, MO, Chrissy Savant of Sheldon, MO, Melissa Ayers and husband Ryan of St. Louis, MO, and Paige Redditt of Orlando, FL; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six brothers and three sisters; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; one grandson, Derek; one great-great-grandson, Logan; his parents, Daniel and Hazel Savant; four brothers and one sister.
