Dale L. Umbright, 73, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. He was at his home, surrounded by his family.

Dale Lee Umbright was born in Sullivan, MO on September 19, 1948 to Charles and LaVerne (McDaniel) Umbright. He attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1966. Dale started his working career with General Motors, but later went to work on the oil rigs in Grants, New Mexico. After returning to Sullivan, he resumed working for General Motors. Dale had a special friend, Carol Smith, who was the love of his life. He loved her children as his own. Sadly, Carol preceded him in death.

Dale loved music and played the guitar and drums. One of his favorite songs was House of the Rising Sun. In his younger days, he was quite the jitter bug dancer. Dale became a Christian later in his life and began attending Temple Baptist Church. He formed many friendships at the church and enjoyed meeting with the men’s group on Wednesday mornings. Dale had a very special friend in Jimmy Biermann and even considered himself an uncle to Jimmy’s sons, Jordan and Justin. Due to certain circumstances in his life, Dale was a very unique person. However, instead of complaining about it, he lived each day to the best of his ability. Dale was very loved and he made an impact on so many people. He will be missed.

Dale is survived by his two children, Andrea Umbright and Justin Umbright; two grandchildren; one grandchild; three siblings: Sheila Umbright of Chesterfield, MO, Steve Umbright and wife Teresa of St. Charles, MO, and Vickie Pingleton and husband Rick of Wright City, MO; two aunts, Viva Lou Carey and Sharon Key, both of Sullivan, MO; a special cousin, caregiver, and friend, Debbie Senters and husband Brad of Sullivan, MO; best friend, Jimmy Biermann and his wife Trina, and their two sons, Jordon and Justin, all of Sullivan, MO; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and LaVerne Umbright; one brother, Charles Umbright; maternal grandparents, Howard and Goldie Key; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Helen Umbright; and two uncles, Larry Key and Jerry Carey.

It was Dale’s wish to donate his body to science to benefit others. There will be no services at this time.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, MO.
