Sylvia L. Dudley

Sylvia L. Dudley, 83, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully from this life to her eternal rest on Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was a surrounded by her loving family.

Sylvia Lorene Jones was born in Gasconade County, MO on December 22, 1938 to Eugene and Etta (Shockley) Jones. She attended grade school in Owensville. Sylvia married Bill Freie on February 18, 1957, and to this union four children were born: Dennis, Randy, Lori, and Billy.

Later in life, Sylvia was united in marriage to Bob Dudley, of Sullivan, on January 27, 1977, and together they had one son, Matthew Dudley. When Sylvia was a young girl, she attended a revival meeting at which she was saved.

Sylvia loved attending church at the Ridge. In her free time, she could be found working in her flower gardens or playing in the yard with her grandkids. Sylvia loved spending time with her family. She often gave much and expected little in return. She was an amazing cook, seamstress, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends.

Sylvia is survived by four of her children: Dennis Freie of Sullivan, MO, Randy Freie of Union, MO, Lori Valentine and husband Jim of Daytona, FL, and Matt Dudley and wife Stephanie of Bourbon, MO; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Jones of Bell, MO; two sisters, Linda Fuhrmann of Jackson, MO and Dixie Kriete of Owensville, MO; eight half-siblings: Roy Jones and wife Kerri of Bell, MO, Roger Jones and wife Donna of Gerald, MO, Danny Jones and wife Jan of Bland, MO, Jimmie Jones and wife Nancy of Owensville, MO, Judy Bray of Jefferson City, MO, Janie Reeves and husband John of Hayden, MO, Larry Rowe and wife Debbie of Meta, MO, and Danny Rowe of Vienna, MO; nieces and nephews, other extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Freie; two grandchildren, Ben Freie and Nick Meyer; her parents, Eugene and Zelma Jones and Alfred and Etta Rowe; five brothers: twin brothers, Donald and Ronald Jones, Charles Jones, David Rowe, and Mack Ridenhour; and four sisters: Florence Wells, Jessie Jones, Carmelita Jones, and Mary Ann Wells Thompson.

Services were 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Ridge Church in Sullivan with Pastors Matt Dudley and Mike King officiating. Following the service, lunch was served. Interment was held in Midlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Union at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation was held from 9:30 – 11 a.m., Saturday, prior to the service at the Ridge Church.
