LaVerne M. Hecht

LaVerne Mae Hecht, 89, of Gerald, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 26, 1932, to Otto and Sylvia (Schweer) Copeland in Union.

She was united in marriage to Edward Hecht July 30, 1955, in Sullivan.

LaVerne was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.  She loved gardening, crocheting, shopping and going to auction sales.  She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Sylvia; parents-in-law, Julius and Mabel Hecht; husband, Edward; brothers, Don and Gene Copeland; brothers-in-law, Jimmie D. Schmidt, Hadley and Warren Hecht; sisters-in-law, Bernice and Mary Lou Copeland and Jackie Hecht; and son-in-law, Kirk Barringhaus.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Barringhaus and Richard Hecht both of Gerald; sister, Peggy Schmidt of Sullivan; grandchildren, Amy Bone and husband Clint of Gerald, Julia Warren and husband Justin of Rosebud, Kory Hecht and wife Kate and Ben Barringhaus and wife Danyee all of Gerald; and by nine  great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 22 at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Gerald with Pastor Dennis Vickers officiating. Burial was in New Friendship Baptist Cemetery.
