Roxanna Crandall

Roxanna Crandall, 67, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, surrounded by her loving family.
Roxanna was born August 4, 1954 in Rolla, MO to Charles and Opal (Lynn) Helferstay. She grew up and attended school in Bourbon, then relocated to El Paso, TX where she attended Parkland High School. She graduated from El Paso Beauty School and obtained her beautician’s license. She remained in El Paso for a short time before returning to Missouri for a few years. While in Missouri, Roxanna was employed as a Supervisor for Meramec Shoe, and she would often work alongside her mother as a caretaker for special needs children.
In 1983, Roxanna returned to El Paso, Texas. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jack Crandall, on October 19, 1985. Together they blended their families and were blessed with two daughters, Christina and Amanda. They continued to raise their family in El Paso while Roxanna was employed at several different places in the area. She worked as a jailer for a short time, a computer supervisor, and at the local VFW and American Legion for 10 + years. She even served one term as VFW 8550 auxiliary president. Roxanna left the service organizations to operate her own bar, The Eagles Nest.
Roxanna was very devoted to the bar and their customers. The Eagles Nest was often filled with young service men and women from Fort Bliss Army base located in El Paso. They became family to Jack and Roxanna. So much so, that they would host holiday meals for the service men and women, as well as large going away parties when they were preparing to deploy overseas. Jack and Roxanna truly made a difference in not only their community but the lives of many young service men and women.
As a family, they often enjoyed traveling and camping at various places around the country; Mayhill, Elephant Butte, Caballo Lake, Silver Lake, and Perch Dam, just to name a few. Roxanna’s family was dear to her and she treasured time spent with them.
Later in life, Roxanna enjoyed penny shopping and the occasional dumpster dive. She loved to find bargains and share them with her family and friends. She also enjoyed to cook and bake many recipes that had been handed down to her from past generations. She loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren. In fact, Jack and Roxanna moved back to Missouri in 2018 so they could be closer to their grandchildren. She will be so dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
Roxanna is survived by her loving husband, Jack, of Sullivan, MO; two daughters, Christina Warren and husband Edward of Bourbon, MO and Amanda Lindoerfer and husband Adarion of El Paso, TX; five grandchildren: Amanda, Ashly, Will, Marissa and Edward; seven great-grandchildren: John, Joe, Grace, Evelyn, Rosalee, Elizabeth and Addyson; a sister, Janice McCain of WI; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Colson Warren; her parents, Charles and Opal Helferstay; a sister, Carolyn Kobilus; a brother, Kenneth Barton; and her mother-in-law, Marlene Barrett.
