Thelma Pete M. Hunter
Thelma “Pete” M. Hunter, 76, of Bourbon, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 7, 2022.
Thelma Marie Hunter, known as Pete, was born September 28, 1945 in Ava, MO to Arthur Shelton and Margurete Danielson. She grew up and attended grade school in Bourbon, MO. Pete was united in marriage to William E. Hunter Jr. on September 2, 1967 and together they had five children: Kim, Lisa, Laurie, Billy and Kevin. They started out in Bourbon and then moved to Grants, NM for some time before returning to Bourbon in 1979 and making it their final home.
Pete enjoyed cruises and playing the slot machines. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Pete is survived by her five children: Kim Richardson (Larry Kopecky) of Leslie, MO, Lisa Houston and husband Tim of Owensville, MO, Laurie Coddington of Sterling, VA, Billy Hunter and wife Rachel of Sullivan, MO, and Kevin Hunter of Bourbon, MO; twelve grandchildren: Nathan Richardson, Kyle Richardson (Rachel Lawrence), Calvin Richardson (Kaeyty Clark), Matthew Mesger and wife Brittney, Chris Mesger and wife Alison, Nick Mesger and wife Ashley, Jordan Clausen and wife Tabbytha, Skyler Clausen and wife Riley, Taylor Travis and husband Trevor, Hana Hunter, Aleah Hunter and Charleigh Hunter; ten great-grandchildren and one more on the way: Emma Mesger, Adam Mesger, Lucy Clausen, Maxwell Clausen, Bailey Richardson, Avery Richardson, Kaeley Richardson, Ryker Richardson, Stella Travis and Aubree Travis; her sister, Judy Degonia of Sullivan, MO; brothers-in-law: Lanny Hunter, Tom Hunter and wife Eileen, Jim Hunter, Randy Hunter, Pat Hunter, Gary Hunter and wife Donna, Larry Hunter and wife Fran and Charlie Miller; sisters-in-law: Helen Knuckles and husband Don, Imogene Shelton, Gerodine Shelton, Donna Shelton and Sandy Shelton; nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Shelton; her mother, Margurete Danielson; her stepfather, William “Bill” Stroup; her parents-in-law, William Sr. and Aileen Hunter; six brothers: Noel, Laurel, Dale, Bob, Jim and Jerry Shelton; three sisters: Virginia Shelton Hopwood, Beverly Shelton Miller and Norma Jean Shelton; one son-in-law, Mark Mesger; one brother-in-law, Herbert Hopwood; and five sisters-in-law: Cheryl Hunter, Tammy Hunter, Connie Hunter, Lois Thurman Shelton and Lois Laplant Shelton.
Cremation arrangements will take place. No services are planned at this time.
