Abby Peterson Takes Third At State Championship
The Sullivan Eagles had three track and field stars travel to State this week Abby Peterson, Wyatt Kraus and Jaiden Hodges competed at Jefferson City on Friday and Saturday.
Peterson secured all state honors and finished in third place in the high jump.
Kraus finished his great season after placing 15th in the 110 hurdles.
Hodges had not yet thrown at press time.
At press time, the final results for all the events were not available.
Peterson finished in third place in the girls’ high jump with final results of 1.58 and 5-2 ¼ and six points. The championship was won by Ja’Nyiah Davis of Raytown South. Her final results were 1.64, 5-4 ½ and ten points. She was followed by Faith Atkins of McCluer North with final results of 1.62, 5-3 3/4, and eight points.
The winner of the first round of the boys’ 110 hurdles was Luke Noland of Kearney. His time was 14.61. He was followed by Rhett Foster of Smithville with a time of 14.65. Kason Mauzey of Benton took third with a time of 15.11. Kraus finished in 15th with a final time of 16.77.
