Accidental Fire Ruled In Thursday House Fire
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office determined that a house fire at 3419 Highway FF, Thursday, March 24, that left a home destroyed was accidental.
Sullivan Fire District Chief Eric Lewis reported that firefighters responded to the home at 10:51 a.m. Thursday to find the home was 60% involved in fire as crews arrived.
“There were heavy flames coming from the rear porch area/kitchen area of the home, with the home 60% involved,” said Lewis. “Firefighters learned upon arrival that everyone was out of the home and two people in a nearby camper were also evacuated from the camper.”
Lewis stated that Sullivan firefighters were assisted in bringing the blaze under control by Bourbon and St. Clair Fire with Missouri Baptist Ambulance and North Crawford County Ambulance on the scene as well.
“There was heavy fire damage to the main floor of the home and heavy smoke and water damage to the attic, thus the home was a total loss,” said Chief Lewis. “The State Fire Marshal was called in to determine a cause which was ruled accidental. It appeared the fire started in the rear porch and kitchen area.”
There were no injuries to residents or firefighters working the structure fire.
