Lady Eagles Coast To 14th Straight District Championship

Sullivan overpowered Owensville 10-3 on Saturday to win the Class 3 District 3 tournament and claim their 14th straight district softball championship.

The Lady Eagles (25-9) erased a 1-0 deficit with a four-run first inning. 

Jaiden Blankenship struck out 12 Dutchgirls.

Alexis Funkhouser popped a two-out, two-run homer in the first as Sullivan seized control of the game.

The defending state champions advance to Wednesday's Class 3 quarterfinal against Logan-Rogersville. It is a reprise of last season's quarterfinal that sent the Lady Eagles to the Final Four and eventually the state championship.

Sullivan will host the game.

The two teams met earlier this season, with the Lady Wildcats outlasting Sullivan 10-9.
