Lady Eagles fall to Blue Jays
It was a pitching battle on Friday between Sullivan and Washington.
Sullivan lost a late lead and fell 2-1 to the Lady Jays.
Evvie Blakenship got the start for the Lady Eagles. She struck out three.
Jaedin Blankenship pitched in relief and struck out four.
Washington’s Taylor Brown outdueled Sullivan’s combo. She allowed a solo home run to Kayla Ulrich in the first inning, but settled in. Brown struck out 13. Ulrich smacked the first pitch she saw from Brown. She hit her third home run of the season to put the Lady Eagles up 1-0.
Brown would allow one hit the rest of the way.
Jaedin Blakenship came in for Evvie with one out in the fourth. Washington's Holtmeyer singled and Monsyk advanced to third. Monzyk eventually came around and scored on an error by Ulrich to tie the game at 1-1.
In the fifth inning, Washington's Christine Gerling singled to left field.
She advanced to second on an error made by Sophia Weirich.
Jaeden Blakenship then struck out Washington's Lewis and Guevara.
Brown hit a two-out line drive and Gerling scored to put Washington on top 2-1.
