Norma Wilson

Norma Wilson, age 92, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
Norma R. Carey was born in Sullivan, MO, August 8, 1928, to Leo and Maude (Merritt) Carey. She attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1946. After high school, Norma gained employment as a private secretary by Midwest Footwear. On December 21, 1946, Norma was united in marriage to Kenneth Wilson, in St. Louis, MO. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage before Kenneth’s passing on December 7, 2007.
Norma was later employed by Pierre Studio, where she would paint oil paintings of the portraits Mr. Pierre had taken. She also owned and operated her own store in Strain. Norma was a very industrious lady. She stayed busy in her flower gardens and always had the most beautiful yard in her subdivision. She was a member of Sullivan Garden Club and was a Master Naturalist. Norma was very involved in her church, Temple Baptist, where she cooked many Wednesday night dinners, as well as funeral dinners, and decorated the church at Christmas time. She will be missed by her family, church family and many friends.
Norma is survived by her five children: K. R. Wilson and wife, Dianna, of Sullivan, MO, Diane Wilson of Owensville, MO, Christina Orr and husband, Kevin, of Kansas City, MO, Elizabeth Wilson of Sullivan, MO, and Tina Koenig and husband, Brian, of Denver, CO; fifteen grandchildren: Janice Jones and husband, Terry, of Sullivan, MO, Erica Williamson and husband, Justin, of Sullivan, MO, Kenny Jenkins and wife, Jeanie, of Sullivan, MO, Michael Jenkins and wife, Juanita, of Owensville, MO, Jason Jenkins and partner, Adam, of St. Louis, MO, Andrew Wilson of Owensville, MO, Amanda White of Denver, CO, Taylor Politte and partner, Victoria Rogers, of Kansas City, MO, Lindsey Orr of Kansas City, MO, Emily Miller and husband, James, of Chickamauga, GA, Logan Willette of Sullivan, MO, Joshua Wilson and wife, Chloe, of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeremy Koenig of Denver, CO, and Madison Koenig of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Kierstin, Nash, Norah, Zachary, Camron, Alisyn, Issac, Charlee-Jo, Lyle, Kelsey and Oliver; three great-great-grandchildren: Brody, Ava and Reaghan; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wilson; one grandson, Charles J. Askew, Jr.; her parents, Leo and Maude Carey; and one sister, Thelma Hedges.
Funeral services were held 12 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO, with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Norma was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Kenneth, in Schmidt Cemetery – Sullivan.
Visitation was held 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at Temple Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions in Norma’s memory may be made to Temple Baptist Church.
