Drug Overdoses Already Near 2019 Total In City

The United States continues to get the upper hand on the COVID-19 pandemic but another pandemic continues to get worse as the country goes through this awful time in history.

According to the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program, a federal program the gathers drug overdose date from across the country from law enforcement, ambulance services and hospital’s showed that in March alone drug overdoses increased some 18 percent followed by 29 percent increase in April and a 42 percent increase in May.

Sullivan Police Lt. Patrick Johnson reported that in the City of Sullivan in 2019 total drug overdoses for the year was 37 and they are quickly approaching that with four months left in 2020.
