Sullivan Splits With Rolla, Herculaneum
Rolla and Sullivan pushed each other long past the 25-point mark on Monday.
With the rubber match hanging in the balance, the two teams went back and forth, with Rolla emerging to win a thrilling 33-31 set and escape Sullivan with a victory.
The Lady Eagles (6-5-1) were still shorthanded due to injuries, but managed to hang with the bigger school, even dominating by a 25-16 final in the first set.
Rolla
Rolla would force a split by winning the second set 25-18.
Mallory Shetley’s 15 kills and eight points led the Lady Eagles, while Maci Nolie contributed six points, three aces and 30 assists.
Rylee Denbow had six kills and six points. Kya Harbour had six kills and two points. Emma Brune tallied five kills with three points.
Carey, Denbow and Harbour all had an ace, giving Sullivan six on the night.
Olivia Witt had one kill and one assist.
Herculaneum
Sullivan was able to bring Riley Lock back in the fold in Thursday’s 25-14, 25-19 victory over Herculaneum.
It was Sullivan’s serving power that lifted them over the Blackcats.
With nine aces, the Lady Eagles buried an overwhelmed defense.
Denbow led with four, while Carey had three. Harbour and Lock each had one.
Lock had two points in her return to action.
Shetley’s 12 kills lifted Sullivan’s defense. She also added two points.
Nolie had 16 assists to go with three points.
Harbour had three kills, a block and three points. Brune finished with three kills.
