Second Quarter Sales Tax Up From 2017

Crawford County’s general revenue sales tax posted two straight months of growth and finished the second quarter of 2018 up from last year.

In April, the tax dipped from $74,701 in 2017 to $59,530 in 2018. That 20 percent drop represents the only monthly decline from year-to-year. 

The county made up for it with a strong May. Revenue was up from $87,045 in May 2017 to $107,152 in May 2018 — a 23 percent increase.

June 2017 was the county’s strongest June on record and 2018 beat it. After collecting $117,919 last year, revenue was up to $124,184 this year, which was a 5 percent boost. 

Overall, the county collected $290,868 in second quarter general revenue sales tax, up from $279,665 in 2017. 

The county has seen an increase of 8 percent overall. So far through 2018, Crawford County has collected $693,063, up from $639,447 in 2017.

This tax does not represent the sales tax increased passed by voters in April.

In the separate law enforcement and capital improvement accounts, the county has seen increases. 

The law enforcement tax has collected $620,915 thus far, up from $580,147 in 2017.

The tax was up 24 percent in May and 2 percent in June.

For capital improvement, collection was at $620,951, up from $580,173. Like the law enforcement tax, it was up 24 percent and 2 percent in May and June respectively.
