Suspect Wanted For Questioning In Inmate's Escape Arrested
Sullivan police assisted in the arrest of a Cuba woman Monday night following a pursuit that began near Highway 50 and Highway 185 in Beaufort.
Briggitte Bruyere, 23, was wanted on a no-bond arrest warrant for probation violation and questioning by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office regarding an inmate who escaped from a MoDOT work site last week.
Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton said deputies and detectives with the MCNVCEU responded to the area after receiving information that Bruyere would be arriving at a gas station.
Law enforcement converged on her vehicle and attempted to block her in, but she fled the scene and went south on Highway 185 towards Sullivan.
Sullivan police deployed spike stripes at two locations, which ultimately disabled Bruyere’s vehicle.
Bruyere was taken into custody without further incident.
Pelton said Washington County authorities wanted to question Bruyere regarding Jacob Martin, an inmate at the Potosi Correctional Center. Martin escaped on Feb. 13 and was taken into custody by the Eureka Police Department on Feb. 18.
Bruyere is being held at the Franklin County Jail.
