Sullivan Closing In On FRC Title

Abbey Daniel threw five shutout innings, Hannah Cox hit her third home run of the season and Sullivan coasted to a 13-0 win over Hermann on Thursday.

With a win on Tuesday at Owensville, Sullivan will clinch their first Four Rivers Conference championship since 2013.

Through six conference games Thursday, the Lady Eagles have outscored FRC opponents 77-1.

Sullivan needed just nine hits against Hermann. Cox, Addison Purvis and Kamryn Lohden each had two hits.

Cox had four RBIs and scored twice. Purvis, typically pulled for a courtesy runner, singled twice, drove in a run, walked and scored four times. Lohden had two RBIs and scored three runs.

Morgan Bobbitt singled, scored and drove in a run. Daniel singled and had an RBI.

Daniel started her fourth game of the season. She allowed just two hits, struck out four and allowed two walks.

Sullivan scored four runs in the first inning. With two on, Hanna Johanning hit a pop fly that was turned into an error at shortstop, scoring Purvis. Lohden then reached on an infield single to short that scored Cox. Daniel extended the inning with two outs when she got on via error in center. Hermann committed their third error of the inning when Weirich bounced a ball to second that couldn’t be turned into an out. Lohden scored for a 4-0 lead.

With two outs in the second, Lohden delivered an RBI single to score Purvis. Bobbitt followed on a line drive to left that drove in Lohden.

In the third, Purvis had an RBI single that was followed by a three-run homer from Cox, giving Sullivan a 10-0 lead.

The Lady Eagles tacked on two more runs with an RBI single from Daniel and a fielder’s choice by Amanda Boren, which scored Bobbitt.
