Kay Murphy Presents The ‘Tainted Legacy’ At Sullivan Library Sept. 26

On Sept. 26, 2017 at 6 pm. Scenic Regional Library in Sullivan will be hosting S. Kay Murphy.

She will share her research on Bertha Gifford, her great-grandmother.

S. Kay Murphy has been a freelance writer and author for the past forty years. Of her four published books, Tainted Legacy is the one she never expected to write, but when she learned at the age of 35 that her mother's grandmother had been tried for murder, her journalist instincts kicked in, and she began an investigation that took many years and many miles of travel to complete. Since doing the research for that book, she has come to think of Missouri as her "home away from home," and is never happier than when she is meeting new cousins here, visiting local cemeteries or duck-walking through caves and, of course, talking about Bertha Gifford.

Bertha Gifford from Catawissa, MO was a farm wife who was accused of killing 17 people by using arsenic in the early 1900’s. The evidence Kay will present for and against is compelling.

Ms. Murphy will have her book available for purchase and she will sign copies.
