Valley Park Tops Sullivan In Overtime
Jacob Miller’s penalty kick with three minutes left in regulation Tuesday had Sullivan in the driver’s seat against Valley Park.
It wouldn’t be enough.
The Hawks scored with just over a minute left, then Eric Sanchez booted the game-winner with less than three minutes left in overtime to give Valley Park a 5-4 win.
Sullivan blew a lead late for the second time this season, but unlike their overtime escape against Laquey on Aug. 23, weren’t able to atone for it.
The Eagles led three times Tuesday and each time, Valley Park responded. Danny Keogh’s goal just three minutes into the first half gave Sullivan the early advantage. Valley Park tied the game, but goals by Jacob Rohrer and Landon Hoffman built up a 3-1 lead.
Valley Park scored before the end of the half, then tied it in the second.
The Hawks put five fewer shots on goal than Sullivan (14-9), but slipped five shots past Jacob Wiley.
