Woman’s Death At Franklin County Detention Center Under Investigation

The Franklin Sheriff’s Office said a woman at the detention center died July 31 and an investigation is underway.

Amanda Duncan, 37, was unresponsive when deputies went to her cell around 9:10 p.m.

Sheriff Steven Pelton said an inmate summoned a deputy that Duncan was unresponsive in a module. 

Deputies went into the housing block and found Duncan lying in her bed, unresponsive.

CPR was started, but Duncan had passed away.

Pelton said Duncan had been moved from the intake/booking area of the facility to the housing module earlier that afternoon.

Her death is undetermined an autopsy was performed Aug. 2.
